Chelsea have already revamped their midfield over the last few transfer windows, bringing in Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, for example.
If they want to strengthen that area of their squad further, though, perhaps they could make a move for Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich.
The 29-year-old’s contract expires in 2025, making an exit this summer more than possible.
The Bundesliga champions will not want to lose Kimmich, who continues to be an important player for them.
The German has made just over 30 appearances under Thomas Tuchel this season and is able to start in midfield and at right-back. Kimmich was actually linked with a move to Chelsea at the end of the previous campaign.
Are Chelsea an option for Joshua Kimmich?
Journalist Florian Plettenberg recently claimed on X that Bayern are prepared to sell Kimmich this summer as his contract continues to run down.
According to Plettenberg, there are five clubs Kimmich would consider joining if he does decide to leave the Allianz Arena.

However, the reporter has stated that Chelsea, as well as Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, are not viable options for him.
Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona are the only teams who would be considered by the Germany international.
Arsenal more likely to sign Joshua Kimmich than Chelsea
Arsenal and Chelsea could find themselves going toe-to-toe for more than one player this summer.
Both London clubs are also reported to be interested in RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
As for Kimmich, though, if the two English giants do want to bring in the Bayern star, it looks like there is only going to be one winner: the Gunners.
You would not have said that a few years ago, but things have obviously changed in London now. While Chelsea are struggling, Arsenal are thriving.
Mikel Arteta’s side find themselves competing for the Premier League title these days and recently made it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, where they will actually take on Kimmich and Bayern. It makes the Emirates a more appealing destination than Stamford Bridge.
