Manchester United will continue their pre-season campaign as they face Ligue 1 side Lyon in Scotland next week. 

United beat Leeds 2-0 in their opening friendly on Wednesday, with Mason Mount making his first appearance in a Red Devils shirt.

Erik ten Hag was able to judge his £65million new signing for the first time while also assessing his younger players who could make an impact this season. 

And he will have plenty more opportunities to look over his squad with a clash against Lyon the final game before a tour of the USA begins.

This friendly will be played on Wednesday, July 19. 

Kick-off at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, Scotland is scheduled for 2pm.

Mount made his non-competitive debut in United’s opening friendly against Leeds in Oslo. 

The midfielder is likely to feature once again in this clash with an array of youngsters to be involved too. 

Academy prospects Noam Emeran and Joe Hugill both scored in a 2-0 win as plenty of players from all levels of the club got some minutes in their legs. 

First-team stars Jadon Sancho, Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all started the game before being replaced.

Speaking after his first appearance in a Man United shirt, Mount said: We’ve been working very hard [in training], so it’s good to now put it into practice and play on the pitch now. 

“That first week is mostly focused on getting the legs going again, getting the distance in the legs by running.

“But we’ve definitely been working on a few tactics as well, coming into this game.

“I’ve definitely got a great understanding of how the manager wants to work and how the boys play.

“Obviously now it’s about using these games to work at it more and and putting it into practice when we get on the pitch.

“It was a good start today, a good win. As I said, it’s important to get the minutes in the legs, but it’s important to win as well and that’s what we want to do this season.”

“I really liked that role [deeper midfield] today,” he added. “Being able to drop in and get on the ball and start the play from a bit deeper, but also having that freedom to be able to get forward and get in the box.”
