Chelsea return to action in a few days time when they host Everton at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea play Everton on Monday night in the Premier League, which is another important fixture for both sides.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team are ninth in the league and desperately need the points to boost their chances of qualifying for Europe.

Meanwhile, Merseyside giants Everton are only two points above the drop zone as they continue their relegation fight, which has come about because of points deductions this season.

Chris Sutton predicts Chelsea against Everton

BBC pundit Chris Sutton has now released his weekly pre-match predictions for the top division.

He’s gone with a score draw between Chelsea and Everton on Monday. However, Pochettino’s side should be out for revenge after losing the reverse fixture 2-0 at Goodison Park in December.

“As usual with Chelsea, I don’t have a clue what to go for here,” Sutton wrote for BBC Sport.

“If you look back at their results then they are on a seven-game unbeaten run in the league but they have drawn four of those matches because they always seem to shoot themselves in the foot.

“Everton beat Mauricio Pochettino’s side at Goodison Park in December but only got their first league win of 2024 last week.

“Beating Burnley was massive for them, but they need to follow that up by getting something at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are still a developing team so I am going to go with the Toffees to take a point.

“Sutton’s prediction: 1-1.”

Watch out for transfer target

If he plays, Everton’s Amadou Onana is someone Chelsea fans should keep a special eye on.

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder is a colossus in the Toffees midfield who’s been linked with a potential switch to Stamford Bridge.

TEAMtalk claimed in February that Chelsea have shown firm interest in signing Everton’s £80m-rated Onana. In fact, they’re deemed the most likely potential buyer to put a bid in for him.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Blues duo of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo play in midfield against him.
