The England international initially joined the Chelsea academy as a six-year-old, and is just five short of 200 first team appearances for the Blues.

The attacking midfielder has been a mainstay in Chelsea’s starting eleven since Frank Lampard handed the then 20-year-old his debut on the opening day of the 2019-20 season.

Mount, capped 36 times by England, has only a year remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge this season though, and with the mass influx of recent signings in west London under the club’s new owners, some players will be forced out of the exit door this summer.

Chelsea spent in the region of £550 million on transfers across the last two windows, with many of those players tied to multi year contracts, some with as many as eight years on them.

A lot of money has also been spent on positions in which Mount plays, mostly in wide roles or in midfield, and it seems increasingly likely of being a case of out with the old and in with the new at Stamford Bridge.

16 signings were made in total by Chelsea over the 2022-23 season, and with so many players, some are undoubtedly being forced to leave, and it’s thought, even with only a year left on his contract, the club could set a decent price tag on Mount, their academy product.

Manchester United have emerged as the odds-on favourites to sign the 24-year-old, with that title previously being held by Liverpool.

The Red Devils are now 1/3 to sign the midfielder as the club look to strengthen their attacking options ahead as part of preparation for their first season back in the Champions League having missed out last season.

Mason Mount next club odds (talkSPORT BET)

  • Manchester United – 1/3
  • Any German club – 10/1
  • Liverpool – 14/1
  • Any Spanish club – 20/1
  • Arsenal – 25/1

Potential moves abroad are also on the cards for Mount, with a move to the Bundesliga, potentially to Bayern Munich to reunite with Thomas Tuchel, his former Chelsea boss under whom the Blues won the Champions League in 2021, but their price has drifted from as low as 4/1 to 10/1.

Arsenal are next in the race to sign the England international, with a move across the capital city to the Emirates Stadium at 25/1.

The Gunners led the Premier League for the majority of the season, only to fall short in the dying games and pipped to the title by Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta and co will be desperate to improve their squad this summer and mount another title charge next time out as they aim for a first league title since 2004.

Club captain Martin Odegaard enjoyed a fantastic season at the Emirates in the number 10 position, but Mount would add serious strength in the depth and flexibility in the attack in what would be a huge boost for the squad.

Liverpool led the odds list for a long time as the most likely destination for the Chelsea academy graduate, but their odds have now drifted to 14/1 form 2/1.

The Reds had a disappointing 2022-23 season by their high standards, finishing outside the top four for the first time since 2016, and reinforcements look likely to be made in the summer at Anfield with many of their ageing players moving on.

Arthur Melo, Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all had their departures from Anfield this summer confirmed, while Thiago only has one more season left on his current deal.

With so many midfielders leaving Anfield this summer, Jurgen Klopp will be in the market for a some experienced young players to take the baton and help the Reds back into the next season’s Premier League top four.
