A win is absolutely essential for Chelsea when they are next in action on Monday night against Everton in the Premier League.

After dropping points at the hands of Sheffield United and Burnley in their last two, they are in desperate need of some consistent results and fast.

On paper, one of the best teams to welcome to Stamford Bridge right now would be Everton, based on their recent form and place in the league table.

Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino struggling

However, the aforementioned two fixtures show that simply no one can be taken for granted for the Blues right now, and the manager should perhaps be considering big changes.

Mauricio Pochettino has certainly not been aided by the injury crisis ongoing in West London right now, however many will have been expecting more of him based on what he has available.

With his usual tactic seeming to hit a wall in most games right now, there should perhaps be an appetite to make a change to the system that he has trialled before.

Pochettino should try five at the back vs Everton

When taking into account the strengths Chelsea have right now, it looks as if a change of formation could suit them better, providing two players are fit to feature.

Pochettino trialled a back five system against Brentford earlier this season with mixed levels of success. However, if both Malo Gusto and Ben Chilwell are fit, he should look to try the formation again.

The duo are far better going forward than defensively it seems, and having three centre-backs behind them will allow them to attack more with less responsibilities.

There will of course be the question about who is fit enough to play at centre-back, although another injury boost could be about to significantly strengthen their options there.

Levi Colwill has been absent for a number of weeks now, however is reportedly close to a return and could feature when they welcome Everton on Monday night.

With the poor displays in recent weeks of Benoit Badiashile, there will be a lot of hope the England international can help start to turn things around at the back.
