Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino organised a barbecue for staff at the club’s training ground on his first day at work.

The former Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain manager’s arrival at the Blues was announced in May, but he officially started on Monday.

Pochettino has sealed a return to the Premier League following his stints at Southampton and Spurs for whom he both impressed.

Chelsea offer a new challenge in his career as they look for a vast improvement on their 12th placed Premier League finish last season.

Despite only just starting his role, Pochettino wasted no time in winning over the fans in his first interview with the club.

It appears he has done the same with his new colleagues thanks to a barbecue he hosted at their Cobham training ground.

BBQ company Parrilla Gaucha paid a visit to Chelsea on Monday and displayed a hugely appetising Asasdo BBQ.

Pochettino can be seen pictured alongside the visiting cooks at the club’s base camp in Surrey, with the boss looking delighted to be there.

The Daily Telegraph reports that both playing and non-playing staff were invited to get to know Chelsea’s latest manager and his backroom team.

One staff member told the outlet: “It was a great touch and a really good way for the head coach to introduce himself. It was very relaxed.”

During his first interview as Chelsea boss, Pochettino stressed the importance of making the training ground feel like home.

“I think it’s fantastic, I think it’s a really nice training ground,” he said. “The most important thing is players and staff need to feel that it is our home.

“It’s not only a place to come to work, it’s to come here and feel like home. And that is our responsibility also, to give some guidance to create this feeling.

“Of course, we are fully committed to try to create a big atmosphere, an atmosphere where people can feel really happy to work.

“Of course, always I believe in that together, we can achieve everything and you have no limit and of course, we are going to try to fight with this to try to be altogether and take the decision to build a fantastic journey together.”

Pochettino is set to be first seen in the Chelsea dugout when they take on Wrexham in a pre-season friendly in the United States later in the month.
