Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has told one of his players that his future is down to him and the club.

With the transfer window opening soon, some Chelsea stars will be thinking about the above.

It is clear, though, that Mauricio Pochettino will not be getting too heavily involved.

His future also looks to be up in the air at the moment.

Chelsea have fallen short of reaching their main objective this season, qualifying for the Champions League, and Pochettino is about to enter the final year of his contract. Nevertheless, he has still reportedly told the Chelsea hierarchy that he remains the right man for the job.

Mauricio Pochettino on Chelsea star’s future

Naturally, those who are not playing are the ones who are likely to consider moves this summer.

Raheem Sterling has not been a regular of late and it has now been claimed that the winger is starting to accept that he may have to depart Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino says it is a decision that Sterling will have to make.

When asked about the 29-year-old’s future, he said (via The Independent): “I talk about all the players, all the players have contracts next season.

“Thiago [Silva] has announced he is leaving but all the players who have contracts are going to be there and always it is two parts, the club and the player that needs to decide for the future.

“It’s a good season for him, he has scored and assisted many goals if you compare with last season. I think he has improved a lot this season, if you compare with last season.”

What will Raheem Sterling decide?

It still feels a little too early to tell. The £50m winger has not been overlooked for the whole season, it has only been recently.

In total, Sterling has still been able to make 29 appearances in the Premier League.

The England international has come up with the odd goal as well, drawing his team level against Nottingham Forest over the weekend before Nicolas Jackson scored the winner.

Ultimately, nothing has been decided yet and if Chelsea do not sign a new left winger this summer, you can easily imagine Sterling remaining at Stamford Bridge.
