Despite some bumpy times in management at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea fans will never get bored talking about Frank Lampard, the player.
Blues supporters can always reflect on Frank Lampard as one of the club’s greatest ever players. For many, he’s sitting at the very top of the pile as well.
He was part of England’s infamous golden generation. The midfield phenomenon scored 29 goals in 106 senior England caps, but couldn’t help get his country over the line to win a major trophy.
Phil Jagielka, who retired himself only last year, earned 40 caps for England.
The former Everton defender has spoken this week about the step up into the Three Lions camp.
Interestingly, he’s shared a brilliant story about what he saw from Lampard in a shooting drill during England training.
“I think when I got there (the England squad) you’re quite confident but a little bit apprehensive the first couple of times,” Jagielka told talkSPORT (5:07pm, 13 February).

“To see the standard, I watched a shooting drill, I don’t think anyone missed. I’m thinking to myself this is not really what I’m used to.
“People would always question about who’s best: Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes and people like that. You’d have your own opinion. I don’t think Frank missed one shot. Some of them don’t even look clean and they go in the bottom corner. It can’t be lucky it was an ability. It was a next level.”
Frank Lampard the goalscorer
People will continue to debate how good Lampard was in his career alongside the sport’s best ever midfielders, but one skillset he’s definitely clear of his rivals in is finishing.
It’s an incredible feat for Lampard to end up with 267 club goals in his career as a central midfielder, 211 of them for Chelsea.
The Blues were sitting on a cheat code most seasons when Lampard was chipping in with 20-plus goals from the centre of the park.
Speaking via Sky Sports a couple of months ago, Eidur Gudjohnsen named Lampard as the best he ever played with at Chelsea.
