Former Chelsea defender Scott Minto has sent Todd Boehly a warning about two managers after Mauricio Pochettino’s exit.

Chelsea need to appoint a new manager after parting ways with Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday.

Coming sixth with a squad that was plagued by injury the whole season, the Argentine did a pretty good job at Stamford Bridge in the end.

However, Pochettino and Chelsea both decided it would be best if they parted ways and the 52-year-old left the club on Tuesday by mutual consent.

The Chelsea Chronicle has now been told that the Blues want to replace him with a young coach.

Scott Minto’s warning to former club Chelsea

It has been claimed that Chelsea are considering four managers to replace Pochettino: Stuttgart’s Sebastian Hoeness, Girona’s Michel, Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna and Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca.

Minto discussed the last two names on talkSPORT (21/05/2024 at 19:46), warning his old side that it is way too soon to appoint either.

“Look, no one will listen to my advice in terms of Kieran McKenna and Enzo Maresca, but my advice would be to the ones who have just had a job, first job, like a Maresca, like a McKenna, this is not the right timing for you,” the former left-back said.

“This is a wonderful club, but it is still a club where the owners are finding themselves, and actually you have already seen in just two seasons, what is it, three managers and a caretaker-manager gone. And, if things don’t go well next season, then it could easily be the same again.”

Chelsea should listen to Scott Minto’s advice on Kieran McKenna and Enzo Maresca

McKenna and Maresca have obviously done well in the Championship this season.

Both managers won their sides promotion to the Premier League, though that was expected of the latter given the strength of Leicester’s squad following their relegation from the English top flight.

However, it probably is too soon for either of them to take the Chelsea job.

Going up against the likes of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, which has to be the aim for a club such as Chelsea, the Blues probably need a more proven manager. Yet that does not appear to be the avenue that they want to go down.
