Chelsea are preparing to receive offers for one of their defenders ahead of the summer transfer window.
Thiago Silva’s departure has already been confirmed, and it looks like another centre-back could follow him out of the exit door.
As of now, Mauricio Pochettino will be heading into the 2024/25 season with Trevoh Chalobah, Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi, Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana as his centre-half options.
Fofana, one of the most expensive purchases in Chelsea‘s history, did not play a single minute of football this term because of injury.
However, Pochettino hopes to have him back for pre-season.
Chelsea ready to sell central defender for £25m
Chelsea could be about to make a bit of profit.
According to The Telegraph, the Blues are braced for bids for Chalobah and could sell their academy product, who cost them nothing, for £25m.
Chalobah himself, though, does not appear to be desperate to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
The Telegraph’s report also claims that the 24-year-old will not push for a move away from west London.
Trevoh Chalobah happy at Chelsea
Chalobah seems content with life at Stamford Bridge right now, so it is no surprise to hear that he is not desperate to leave the club.
Since returning from injury, he has got a lot of game time under Pochettino.
Chelsea won their final five fixtures of the Premier League season and Chalobah started in all of them.
Bearing that in mind, it is likely that Pochettino also wants the former England U21 international to remain in west London.
However, the chance to make pure profit on him may be too good of an opportunity for Chelsea to turn down. The club need to avoid breaching profit and sustainability regulations and selling someone like Chalobah, whom they did not pay a single penny for, can help them to do that.
Therefore, it would not be a shock if Chelsea did accept a £25m offer for the centre-half this summer.
