Chelsea have now been linked with a current English manager who’s a huge fan of Blues midfielder Conor Gallagher.

Chelsea need to appoint themselves a new head coach after it was confirmed on Tuesday that Mauricio Pochettino has left Stamford Bridge by mutual agreement.

Despite a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League, Pochettino walks away after only one season in the dugout.

There’s now another search on for the next Blues manager, something that supporters are becoming used to under this ownership.

Chelsea admire English manager at Premier League club

TalkSPORT has now claimed that Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe is appreciated by some at Chelsea.

It is explained that Chelsea chiefs, Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, both admire Howe.

So, will the Blues owners get the 46-year-old coach at Stamford Bridge?

There’s been no other concrete rumours yet linking Newcastle’s Howe to Chelsea. Let’s keep an eye on it, though.

Eddie Howe is ‘incredible’

Howe has done a wonderful job since taking charge at St James’ Park in 2021, this included a fourth-placed finish in the Premier League with Newcastle last season. In fairness, the Magpies still ended up seventh in the league table this campaign.

Speaking via TNT Sport in August 2023, Pep Guardiola described Howe as “incredible” for his work and success in Newcastle colours.

It’s easy to see why Chelsea’s officials do like the English boss.

What’s happening with Conor Gallagher?

One big obstacle for any incoming Chelsea manager next season should be dealing with the Conor Gallagher situation.

For what it’s worth, Newcastle’s Howe is regarded as a big fan of Blues midfielder Gallagher. Journalist Ben Jacobs told CaughtOffside last year that Gallagher is a player liked by Howe.

Unfortunately, Gallagher has been linked with a possible exit from Chelsea this summer as the club may look to sell him. The Chelsea Chronicle’s guess is that the next Blues head coach, whoever that may be, may disagree.

The Evening Standard has reported recently that Gallagher is one of four players that Chelsea plan to try sell before the end of the June.
