Chelsea look unlikely to appoint one manager following Mauricio Pochettino’s departure from the club.

The Blues announced on Tuesday that Mauricio Pochettino had left Stamford Bridge by mutual consent.

Chelsea are now on the search for a new manager, with former boss Thomas Tuchel one name that is currently being linked.

However, The Chelsea Chronicle has been told the German returning to west London is “very unlikely”.

Tuchel was dismissed in 2022, shortly after Chelsea had been taken over by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.

Why Chelsea could opt against hiring one manager

Another manager who has been linked to Chelsea, even before Pochettino’s departure, is Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim.

However, if the Portuguese wants the Chelsea job, he may have some convincing to do.

According to The Guardian, there are concerns that Amorim does not fit this current Chelsea squad tactically.

Whether he does or not, there is no denying that Amorim is a very promising coach. The 39-year-old has just won the title in Portugal and his work at Sporting has been described as “incredible” by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta in the past.

Ruben Amorim one of the more safer options for Chelsea

Amorim himself represents a bit of a gamble for Chelsea.

He is still quite a young manager and has never managed in the Premier League before. However, when you look at some of the other names the club are said to be looking at, Amorim quickly becomes a bit of a no-brainer.

For example, it has been claimed that Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna is a potential candidate to replace Pochettino.

The 38-year-old has spent all of his short managerial career so far in the EFL so really comes across as a risk. If it is a choice between Amorim and McKenna, it has to be the former, though Chelsea seem to have doubts about him at this moment in time. It really will be interesting to see where they go from here.
