Chelsea are not going to entertain cash-plus-player offers for one of their stars this summer.

There could be quite a few exits at Stamford Bridge in the transfer window.

Thiago Silva has already left Chelsea, while Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah could soon follow the central defender out of the exit door.

Gallagher has been heavily linked with a move to Aston Villa, while Chalobah is thought to be attracting heavy interest from Fulham.

Gallagher has entered the final year of his contract and the Blues have just signed another centre-back, Tosin Adarabioyo, so the two Chelsea academy graduates departing definitely looks possible.

Chelsea not interested in potential cash-plus-player deal

According to the Daily Mirror (page 72, 09/06/2024), Chelsea are still interested in Villa striker Jhon Duran.

With the Villans keen on Gallagher, they could always try to include the Colombian in a potential deal for the midfielder.

However, that is unlikely to be successful, with the same outlet claiming that Chelsea want straight cash for Gallagher after entering discussions with Villa about a sale.

It means that Villa are going to have to get their wallet out, as a report from the Daily Mail says that Chelsea want £50m minimum for the Englishman.

Should Chelsea consider a cash-plus-player offer for Conor Gallagher?

It should not be taken completely off the table. Now into the final 12 months of his contract, Chelsea are going to find it difficult to get such a large fee for Gallagher.

If the club refuse to budge on their £50m price tag, then they really run the risk of losing him for nothing next year.

Therefore, if a cash-plus-player offer comes in, it may be worth considering, especially if it includes someone who Chelsea are already interested in like Duran.

After the season Gallagher had, the Blues should be keeping hold of him. He was their second-highest rated player on WhoScored, ranking only behind Cole Palmer after his incredible campaign. But here we are. At this stage, it would be a surprise if the England international stayed at Chelsea beyond 2025.
