Chelsea sent Romelu Lukaku to AS Roma on loan last summer.

The striker is having a good time there, scoring 18 goals in 35 appearances. His most recent strike came against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Europa League.

According to Calciomercato, Romelu Lukaku‘s family are now pushing for him to stay at Roma instead of returning to Chelsea in the summer.

The same outlet also claims that the Italian club can sign the 30-year-old permanently for £37m thanks to a clause.

Chelsea are reportedly confident that they will be able to sell Lukaku and at least a couple of other players to raise £100m.

Romelu Lukaku’s family want Italy stay

Lukaku has spent a lot of time in Italy after two spells at Inter Milan before his move to Roma in the last summer transfer window.

It is no surprise that the Belgian and his family are settled in the country. It makes sense for him to stay there and for Chelsea to obviously offload for good.

Lukaku clearly has no future in west London, leaving Stamford Bridge twice since arriving back in 2021.

It is a shame, as Lukaku would add goals to Mauricio Pochettino‘s side and could be a great mentor to Nicolas Jackson, who is still a young striker trying to find his way in England. However, the 22-year-old is going to have to look to someone else for guidance.

That man could be Brentford’s Ivan Toney, with it being reported that Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are both interested in the England international and that the latter do not want to get into a bidding war with their London rivals over his signature.

Pochettino has even confirmed that Jackson is watching videos of Toney to try and improve as a No.9.

The Brentford man could join Chelsea in the summer, then, but Lukaku is almost certain to be one player not wearing blue next season.
