Chelsea sold a lot of players in the last summer transfer window, including Mason Mount and Kai Havertz.
Kai Havertz joined Arsenal, where he is now thriving under Mikel Arteta, scoring his side’s winner against Brentford over the weekend.
According to FootballTransfers, Arteta could sense that Havertz was low on confidence after a difficult season at Chelsea but was still keen to sign the German, convinced that he could improve him.
The Arsenal boss looks to have done that, with his summer signing having already scored more Premier League goals this campaign than he did in the last one.
This season, Havertz has netted eight times, while last term, he scored seven goals for Chelsea in the top flight. Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that the Gunners viewed the 24-year-old as a perfect addition for their squad.
Kai Havertz was not improving at Chelsea
Havertz was not really developing at Chelsea, or at least not at the rate of a £71m player, which is how much the Blues paid to sign him.
If anything, it looked like the Germany international was starting to go backwards. He came up with 11 goal contributions in the Premier League back in the 2021/22 season but only recorded eight the campaign after despite playing seven more games.

With the form he is in at this moment in time, some may argue that Chelsea let Havertz go too soon. However, what Arteta is getting out of the former Bayer Leverkusen man now, you cannot be confident that Mauricio Pochettino would have got the same.
He has really struggled to really maximise the quality of this Chelsea squad, with the Blues currently sitting in the bottom half of the table.
Cole Palmer has done really well at Stamford Bridge, though, and has already surpassed Havertz’s total amount of Premier League assists as a Chelsea player despite only moving to west London last September.
