Chelsea may have to move fast to sign one player this summer because of European champions Real Madrid.

They have been busy already, recently confirming the arrival of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City.

The 25-year-old joins Chelsea to bolster their midfield options.

The Blues have also signed Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham. That is another name for Enzo Maresca to consider when assembling his backline.

It is also not impossible that another centre-back arrives at the club before the transfer window closes.

Premier League star attracting interest from Real Madrid and Chelsea

The defender who Chelsea are being heavily linked with right now is Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that the Blues are interested in the 22-year-old and want to find out if he wants to join them this summer.

At the end of May, football.london also reported that Chelsea had Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi on their radar.

However, he looks to be a man in real demand right now, as according to The Sun, Real Madrid are interested in signing him, too.

The outlet suggests that Guehi could cost around £50m if he does leave Selhurst Park during this transfer window.

Could Chelsea beat Real Madrid in a transfer battle for Marc Guehi?

Guehi, of course, used to play for Chelsea. The England international came through the ranks there before joining Palace in 2021.

A return to Stamford Bridge may appeal to him.

That being said, if Real Madrid enter the picture, it becomes an entirely different story.

They are European champions right now, the biggest club in the world many would argue, and have another Englishman in Jude Bellingham in their squad.

Seeing how quickly Bellingham has evolved at the Santiago Bernabeu and what he has managed to accomplish there in such a short amount of time will make it hard for Guehi to say no to Real Madrid if they come knocking this summer. It is not a transfer battle that you can see Chelsea winning at this moment in time.
