Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Talk of a big-money switch to the Premier League this summer comes as no surprise, as Viktor Gyokeres has been in sensational form this season.

Despite it only being March, the 25-year-old has already recorded an incredible 50 goal contributions in 39 appearances.

It is a phenomenal record and shows why a side like Chelsea would be interested in signing Gyokeres.

However, it is now being reported that the Blues are actually prioritising a couple of other names over the Sweden international.

Chelsea prioritising Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko over Viktor Gyokeres

According to CaughtOffside, while Gyokeres is a player who has been on Chelsea’s radar, there is a feeling that the Blues are focusing on Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, rather than the Sporting star.

In fact, it has been claimed that Chelsea scouts have actually recommended that the club sign the latter this summer.

Sesko has been nowhere near as efficient as Gyokeres, scoring just seven goals in the Bundesliga this season.

However, in the previous campaign, Osimhen put up similar numbers to Gyokeres, netting 31 times in all competitions, five goals fewer than the former Coventry City man.

Should Chelsea prioritise Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko over Viktor Gyokeres?

Osimhen, perhaps. The Nigerian has proven over the last few seasons now that he is quite a prolific centre-forward, whereas this is the first time that Gyokeres has really excelled in a top European football league.

At this point, though, his numbers cannot be overlooked. So if it is a choice between Gyokeres and Sesko, for example, then Chelsea have to go for the former.

Sesko, who is much younger than the two other centre-forwards Chelsea are looking at, needs to improve his goal record. All in all, Osimhen and Gyokeres are likely to be safer bets than the Slovenia international, though their price tags may actually make them expensive gambles at the same time.
