The chances of Jose Mourinho returning to Chelsea for a third stint as their manager is pretty slim.
That is according to a report from The Daily Mail.
Jose Mourinho, who’s now 61, goes down as one of the greatest to ever manage at Stamford Bridge. In our view, he sits top of the pile as the best of all time.
The Portuguese coach has been out of work since being sacked by Italian club Roma in January.
The Daily Mail explains that sources from both sides have played down Mourinho coming back as Chelsea manager following chants of his name from Blues supporters at the weekend’s 2-2 draw versus Brentford.
It is understood that contacts close to the 61-year-old refused to say whether he would or not be willing to return to Stamford Bridge, but they believe that there would be no desire from the club to rehire him.
The report adds that insiders at Chelsea have echoed that. In fact, one individual involved in the Blues project has admitted it would send out the wrong message if Mourinho was appointed.

The Mail’s report also said that current Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino will have his position in the dugout reviewed in the summer. Apparently, whether or not the team has secured European football could be a key factor.
Bild recently claimed that Mourinho is dreaming about taking on the Bayern Munich job.
Jose Mourinho future
We’re not sure about Mourinho coming back to the Premier League again, specifically to Chelsea.
His profile and style of football doesn’t really suit this young squad assembled at Stamford Bridge recently, so turning to Mourinho as the next manager would feel like it’s for nostalgia purposes only.
For now, Pochettino is still in the dugout at Chelsea trying to make it work.
If the club do decide to pull the trigger on another managerial sacking, they’ll have to be certain they’ve got the right replacement lined up.
