Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk is currently training with his team ahead of their pre-season tour of the United States.

However, following his participation at Euro 2024 with Ukraine, Mykhailo Mudryk was not required to report to Cobham yet.

Nevertheless, he has still opted to, giving Enzo Maresca an early chance to look at him. Chelsea believe Maresca’s style will suit Mudryk, but only time will tell.

The 23-year-old will be hoping to tie down a regular spot under the Italian. He was constantly in and out of the team last season, making 18 starts and 13 substitute appearances in the Premier League.

Mykhailo Mudryk was allowed one-month break

It was a very interesting European Championship for Ukraine. All of the teams in their group finished on four points, but it was Serhiy Rebrov’s side who ended up finishing bottom, thus failing to qualify for the knockout round.

It was also a tournament that Mudryk took very seriously. Mudryk rejected interviews at Euro 2024 to concentrate on his football.

He is now trying to show that seriousness and focus to the new Chelsea manager. According to the Daily Mail, Mudryk was keen to impress Maresca, hence his decision to return to Cobham on July 8 despite FIFPro’s recommendation of a four-week break.

The Ukraine international now looks set to feature in all of Chelsea’s pre-season games this summer, which should boost his chances of starting against Manchester City on August 18.

Will Mykhailo Mudryk start against Manchester City?

Chelsea have tried to sign a new winger in this transfer window. They have failed so far but could still end up with one.

Chelsea and Newcastle like Crysencio Summerville, so there is a possibility of the Blues recruiting the Leeds United star if they can convince him to join them over the Magpies.

If they do not and no other left winger comes in, though, then there is certainly a good chance of Mudryk starting against City when Pep Guardiola’s men make the trip down to Stamford Bridge.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk man just has to ensure that he makes more of an impact in pre-season than Raheem Sterling does, with the 29-year-old also competing for the spot on the left flank.
