Rio Ferdinand says Manchester United’s ongoing takeover saga is ‘not good for the club or the fan base’.

The Red Devils had looked poised to welcome a new owner last season, but the process has now rumbled on for eight months, with fans now knowing little about what’s going on behind the scenes.

Both Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe remain in the race, with bow vowing to make transformative changes.

Each bidder has put a offer of £50billion on the table, despite the Glazer family wanting £60bn.

According to the Daily Mail, negotiations are still ongoing with ‘multiple parties’ with a view for a full sale or partial investment.

There have been plenty of contradicting reports floating around since the turn of the year.

Sir Alex Ferguson wanted to reject Robin van Persie transfer to Man United for two reasons

Now, Man United legend has told talkSPORT he’s wanting answers as much as the rest of the Old Trafford faithful do.

“The uncertainty surrounding the ownership isn’t good for the club,” he told talkSPORT.

“It isn’t good for the fan base at all. I think that needs sorting out. The new owners now, given the way the fan base is at the moment, [are] needed, some clarity right now.

“A lot of the time we’ve asked for transparency from the owners and some real clarity on the direction the club is going to be going in, the infrastructure, the investment etc would be nice.

“But that hasn’t been forthcoming and that’s been disappointing from my standpoint.”

Despite the takeover stalling, though, Erik ten Hag has still been able to recruit well this summer.

Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund has passed his medical and looks poised to make his £72m move, whilst Mason Mount has also joined from Chelsea for £55m.

Goalkeeper Andre Onana signed from Inter Milan for £47m to replace David de Gea, with ex-Red Devils player Jonny Evans also arriving from Leicester on a free.
