Chelsea go into this weekend’s game at home to Burnley as the favourites for three points, but there’s often the unknown in the first match back after an international break.

Chelsea host Burnley on Saturday afternoon in a Premier League fixture at Stamford Bridge.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side haven’t played a league match since a win over Newcastle United on 11 March because of their FA Cup commitments and the international break.

For those who need reminding, the Blues currently sit 11th in the division table and with a lot of work to do in their remaining 11 league games to salvage the season. They should be eyeing seventh-placed West Ham, who sit five points above them having played two extra times.

Chelsea decisions for Burnley

There’s certainly some big decisions for Pochettino to make with his team selection today for Burnley.

For starters, does Raheem Sterling retain his place in the starting XI? The attacker had a nightmare display in the cup win over Leicester before the break, so he’s had two weeks to reflect and try impress in training.

Speaking via Mail Plus this week, Blues star Noni Madueke has shown his support for Sterling by claiming his teammate has received “harsh” and “unfair” criticism.

It’ll send out quite a powerful message if Pochettino decides to stick with Sterling yet again in his starting line-up today.

Elsewhere, what will the make up be of the rest of the team?
