Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has nothing but admiration for one of his teammates.

Right now, Conor Gallagher himself is probably a player who a lot at the club are looking up to.

The 24-year-old has come through the ranks at Chelsea and has captained the team on multiple occasions this season.

He has performed exceptionally well, especially of late, scoring an important equaliser in the Blues’ 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at the end of April.

It was a point Mauricio Pochettino‘s side really needed after getting hammered 5-0 by Arsenal the match before. Paul Merson has now warned the Blues not to sell the Englishman this summer.

Chelsea’s squad is a very young one. Raheem Sterling and Thiago Silva are the most experienced players, but the latter is leaving the club at the end of the season.

Gallagher was asked in an interview with Sky Sports what it has been like sharing a dressing room with him.

In response, the England international said: “It’s been special. He’s an amazing footballer, incredibly good for his age as well.

“What he does on the pitch is just so impressive and, as a person, he’s a great guy as well, so friendly and supportive towards the younger lads and always wants to help. It’s been an honour for me to play with him and to share the dressing room with him.”

Conor Gallagher and Thiago Silva set to start against Brighton & Hove Albion?

Gallagher and Silva have been two of Chelsea’s most important players this season, making 48 and 43 appearances respectively.

Silva racking up that number is really impressive given that the Brazilian is 39 years of age.

The Blues’ game against Brighton & Hove Albion is a big one. Win that, and they could end up going sixth — no one would have imagined that a couple of months ago.

With that in mind, you would expect both Gallagher and Silva to start at the Amex Stadium in what will be the latter’s penultimate game as a Chelsea player.
