Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has now shared something that was really strange for him that happened after he left the club as a player.

He told the official Manchester City club website that being pictured in his new club’s kit was a moment that genuinely felt odd for a player who had been at one club in West London for so many years.

Lampard’s illustrious Chelsea career came to an end in 2014, where many expected him to make the move to the MLS and New York City FC.

However, he enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Premier League rivals too, even finding the net in a huge game against his former side.

The former player and manager has now shared what in particular about his move to Manchester was what he found strange, after being at Stamford Bridge for over a decade of his career.

He said: “That was strange too. I remember doing the photoshoot with the new kit when I signed and it did genuinely feel strange.

“I’d been at Chelsea for so long and I was synonymous with that club and people expect to see you in that kit forever and personally you feel the change even with that.

“But for all the potential anxieties or fears about changing, from the minute I did, it felt really comfortable and I think that was due to the warmth of the club – everybody who was working there.”

Since his playing days, Lampard has two tenures at the helm of Chelsea under his belt, with the first spell being more successful than the latter.

Despite featuring for City, he will always be recognised as a Chelsea legend, who sits as the top scorer in the club’s history with a tally that looks unlikely to be even rivalled anytime soon.
