Chelsea have all of a sudden started to look like a much more mature side in their last few games.
That is according to former Blues star Pat Nevin.
Chelsea go into this Sunday’s League Cup final versus Liverpool with a bit of confidence behind them.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side travel to Wembley Stadium this weekend for their fourth straight match away from Stamford Bridge. During that run, the Blues have won away at both Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, plus they earned a deserved draw at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City.
Chelsea’s big challenge now is to overcome an in-form Liverpool team that beat them 4-1 at Anfield last month.
Nevin has definitely noticed a shift in Chelsea’s young team going into the Carabao Cup final to suggest that they’re moving in the right direction.
He told BBC Sport: “Chelsea on the other hand have suddenly begun to resemble a grown up football team. The maturing process was always going to take a while, but the performances against Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and now Man City have underlined that Mauricio Pochettino should lead them to much more than mid table mediocrity next season.”
Pat Nevin optimistic about Chelsea
If Chelsea collect silverware on Sunday by winning the EFL Cup trophy, we feel like there’s going to be a huge shift of momentum go with this squad.

It’s a mainly inexperienced group of players that isn’t used to winning trophies, so let’s hope they smash down that door in emphatic style against Liverpool.
Speaking via his own YouTube channel this week, Ben Foster has predicted the narrowest of Liverpool wins over Chelsea at Wembley.
In our view, it may take a season-best performance from Chelsea’s players to win the cup. But we’ve seen lately that there’s plenty of talent in the dressing room that is gelling on the pitch.
