Tottenham have announced the signing of James Maddison from Leicester as their second new addition of the summer.

The north London side have secured the services of the attacking midfielder for an undisclosed fee, but talkSPORT understands it will amount to £40million plus add-ons.

Maddison joins Ange Postecoglou’s side after completing his medical on Wednesday.

He is Spurs’ second new transfer of the summer window so far following the arrival of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli.

Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski have also signed, although they join after previous loan deals from Sporting Lisbon and Juventus respectively.

Maddison leaves Leicester after five seasons at the Foxes in which he scored 55 goals and provided 41 assists in 203 appearances.

After impressing at Norwich, he sealed the switch to the East Midlands club in 2018.

One of the highlights of his Leicester career saw him lift the FA Cup in 2021.

Maddison’s final campaign at the club saw him amass ten goals and nine assists in 32 appearances, his stunning form earning him a call-up to the England squad for the Qatar World Cup.

Despite his efforts, it wasn’t enough for Leicester to secure their status in the top flight as they were relegated to the Championship.

For Maddison though he will now make a return to the Premier League for next term, this time in a new era at Spurs.

The Lilywhites capped off a disappointing season with an eighth placed finish and therefore missing out on European football.

Given his attacking qualities, Maddison looks set to take Spurs’ game to another level under new boss Postecoglou.

He arrives with a depth of Premier League experience and three England appearances, sealing a deserved move to a top six side.
