Chelsea now hold an interest in a manager who’s previously spoken glowingly about Graham Potter in the past.

The Blues continue to look for their next head coach following Mauricio Pochettino’s exit by mutual consent.

Remarkably, that’s now Pochettino, Graham Potter and Thomas Tuchel that have left the Chelsea dugout in the two years under the current owners.

Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna and Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca are two of the managers receiving a lot of links to the vacant job at Stamford Bridge. The Evening Standard reports that Ipswich’s McKenna has given the green light for Chelsea to step up their interest in him.  Meanwhile, Sky Sports claims that Chelsea now want to speak with Leicester boss Maresca.

However, a well-respected has just put forward another name he’s heard in relation to the Chelsea manager position.

Chelsea interested in German manager

Journalist Simon Phillips has reported via his Substack on Thursday (8:48am) that Chelsea may want Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic.

He’s explained that he’s been told by two different sources that the Blues have an interest in Terzic.

Also, there’s a belief that getting the 41-year-old Dortmund manager would be ‘difficult’.

Terzic, who finished fifth in the Bundesliga this season, is now preparing his side for the Champions League final versus Real Madrid later this month.

The German boss has enjoyed an incredible run in the Champions League this year that he will hope ends with winning the trophy.

What Edin Terzic once said about Graham Potter

Terzic has spent the bulk of his coaching career at Dortmund in several different phases, but he did spend time as an assistant coach at both West Ham in England and Besiktas in Turkey.

He’s crossed paths against Chelsea several times in the past. In fact, Terzic made some interesting comments about Potter when he came up against him in a Dortmund vs Chelsea tie in Europe in 2023.

Terzic told The Telegraph last year: “I really like him as a person and as a coach. “It’s a crazy story if you see that five years ago we were on a course, and now we are facing each other in the Champions League.”

It turned out that the Chelsea job was too much for Potter in the end, but few will doubt he’s still a quality coach.
