This season, Chelsea were much better in attack compared to the last campaign.

In total, the Blues managed to score 77 goals in the Premier League under Mauricio Pochettino. Last term, they only netted on 38 occasions.

Defensively, though, Chelsea were not as good, conceding 63 times.

One player was responsible for three of those goals, which all came in the same game.

He recently spoke about that match and his love for Stamford Bridge despite playing for one of the Blues’ Premier League rivals.

Premier League star always wanted to play at Stamford Bridge

In February, Chelsea lost 4-2 to Wolverhampton Wanderers at home in an embarrassing defeat for Pochettino’s side.

Matheus Cunha, whom Wolves bought for £44m, was the star of the show, netting a hat-trick on the day.

The forward has described that match as “unbelievable” and shared that it had always been a dream of his to play at the Bridge.

In an interview with the Express & Star, Cunha said: “The game against Chelsea was unbelievable. It was a stadium I always dreamed to play in and when I play my first game I score three goals.

“At the time I followed the Premier League I watched more of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and United at Old Trafford. To go there and score three goals, I will always remember it. It was one of the best moments in my career.”

Which Chelsea players had better seasons than Matheus Cunha?

If you are going off numbers, then not many. In 32 Premier League appearances, the Brazilian managed to score 12 goals.

That means only Cole Palmer (22) and Nicolas Jackson (14) managed to outscore Cunha this term.

The next time Chelsea take on Wolves, Cunha is undoubtedly going to be one of their danger men if his display at Stamford Bridge is anything to go by.

But when you look at Palmer and Jackson’s numbers this season, it is quite clear that Chelsea will have players who can hurt Wolves, too.

The former actually scored in his side’s home tie against Wolves, though it was in vain in the end.
