Despite Chelsea’s quite obvious difficulties on the pitch this season, some players at Stamford Bridge have still managed to enhance their reputations.

The Blues are languishing mid-table in the Premier League, while they need to get past Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals in the only remaining competition they can win a trophy in.

We’re not seeing much cohesion from Mauricio Pochettino’s side on a game-to-game basis. Instead, moments of individual brilliance are sometimes earning them results.

The likes of Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher and Nicolas Jackson have had their moments this campaign, especially the former.

Chelsea player’s value has increased by £60m

CIES Football Observatory, which uses a statistical model to value football players, has shared something interesting about a Chelsea player in its latest release.

Cole Palmer has had the joint-third highest increase in valuation from players aged under 23 during the last six months.

They claim the 21-year-old Blues attacker is now valued at €117 million (£100m), which works out at a huge €70 million (£60m) valuation rise from six months ago.

It’s certainly a fair reflection on what’s been a stunning debut season from the English attacking midfielder at Chelsea. He’s got 19 goals and 13 assists in 37 appearances for the club.

Speaking via talkSPORT last week, Jamie O’Hara said that Palmer is an “unbelievable” talent who reminds him of Gareth Bale in certain ways.

Gary Neville, alongside a huge section of the football community, raised serious doubt when Chelsea signed Palmer from Manchester City last summer.

The Blues paid an initial £40 million (BBC) to bring the left-footed playmaker to Stamford Bridge.

Speaking via Sky Sports back in September, Neville questioned the Palmer signing alongside some of the other decisions from the Chelsea ownership. We agree with him in large parts, but he, like many, has gotten the Palmer shout badly wrong.

Now, Palmer’s valuation has skyrocketed and fans can enjoy watching how much better he gets.
