It’s a constant topic of discussion within the Chelsea fanbase about the club’s search to find their next world-class striker. Therefore, it’s interesting to hear rumours that a talented centre-forward recently linked with the Blues is attracting interest from an unnamed Premier League club.

Nicolas Jackson, 22, is doing a pretty decent job as the main Blues striker during his first season in English football. He’s up to 12 goals in all competitions so far this campaign.

However, we think most supporters would agree Chelsea are desperately in need of a prolific No 9.

So, could Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface be the answer at Stamford Bridge?

The Daily Mirror claimed back in November that Chelsea had Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface as a potential transfer target going into the January window.

He’s still a player for the German league leaders, scoring 16 goals in 23 matches across all competitions so far this season.

Now, Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has provided an update on X today regarding Boniface’s future.

Apparently, the 23-year-old’s attracting a lot of interest from clubs in England. In fact, an unnamed Premier League side has made an enquiry for the young Bundesliga frontman.

Leverkusen would prefer to keep Boniface. It would take bids worth over €55 million (£47 million) to entertain talks.

Victor Boniface not what Chelsea need right now

Despite an eye-catching campaign so far in Leverkusen colours, Boniface is very much raw and one to keep an eye on.

If Chelsea do go out and sign another forward this summer, we’d prefer an individual with a proven CV of scoring goals at the highest level for several years.

There’s no indication yet that Chelsea are back in the race for Boniface, but we’ll certainly be tracking rumours to see what happens in his future. With the way Leverkusen are playing under Xabi Alonso right now, why would you want to go anywhere else?
