Chelsea have signed a lot of players from abroad who have come in and really struggled.
Mykhailo Mudryk is just one recent example, for instance.
Chelsea signed Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk last January and had big hopes for him.
The winger is one of the most expensive signings in the club’s history. Yet he continues to bounce in and out of the team, making just 12 starts in the Premier League this season.
Of course, not all of Chelsea’s signings from other divisions have flopped at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea player impressed with his performances in the Premier League
One player who has definitely done well in England since arriving in the country is Thiago Silva.
In fact, the central defender sounds as if he has even surprised himself with his form in the Premier League.

As per the Evening Standard, Silva was recently quoted as saying: “My four years here were very good. Not that I didn’t believe in myself, but with my age and the intensity of this league…it’s rare to see players in a high level at 39.
“I don’t like to talk about myself, but you can see this. Today, I was ready to play the extra time! I can see I have some years in me to keep enjoying football.”
Chelsea need to find more signings like Thiago Silva
Silva is not exactly replaceable, but the point is Chelsea do not always need to spend a fortune to improve their team.
The former Paris Saint-Germain captain cost them nothing, for example, while the total package to land Mudryk was £89m.
Ultimately, going forward, Chelsea need to recruit smarter. It is not just about paying whatever it takes to bring in the hottest name on the market.
Silva is a signing that Todd Boehly and all those in charge of running the club can learn from. Chelsea may not have the centre-half for much longer, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.
