This is the moment an Olympic judo star’s wild reaction to landing a bronze medal quickly turned sour in Paris this week.

Moldova’s Adil Osmanov was overjoyed after clinching bronze in the men’s 73 kg weight class on Monday, with a victory over Italy’s Manuel Lombardo sealing his first ever Olympic medal.

However, as an impassioned Osmanov threw out his right arm in jubilation after hearing the scores, his joy soon turned to pain.

The 24-year-old quickly grabbed his arm after being left in clear agony, before reports later revealed that he dislocated his shoulder by celebrating so ferociously.

Footage showing the moment he suffered the injury quickly went viral on social media as fans were left in disbelief at the freak incident.

Fortunately Osmanov was able to recover in time for the medal ceremony as he stood on the podium and collected the first medal of his Olympic career.

He has since stated that he was advised to undergo surgery on his shoulder before the Games, only to put that to one side in order to chase his judo dreams.

The Moldovan athlete also dedicated the victory to his late father, saying: ‘He dreamed of reaching the Olympics himself.

‘He did not succeed due to financial impossibility.

‘He dreamed that one of his children would reach the Olympics and get a medal.’

‘Another bronze medal for Moldova!’ Sandu wrote on X along with a photo of him after the competition.

‘Congratulations to our judoist Adil Osmanov for the impressive performance at the Olympics. Your achievement is a victory for us all!’
