West Ham have gone to new lengths to sign players this summer by reportedly listing the positions they need on TransferRoom.

The Hammers are yet to make a senior signing this summer and are the only Premier League side to do so.

Club captain Declan Rice was sold to Arsenal for £105million but West Ham have so far failed to reinvest the funds in new players.

A bid worth £30million for James Ward-Prowse has been rejected by Southampton, with an offer for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire also turned down.

The Hammers are just over a week away from returning to Premier League action, an away trip to Bournemouth next Saturday.

As a result, it appears as though they have gone to extra measures to try and bring in fresh faces ahead of the upcoming campaign.

West Ham hierarchy branded 'incompetent' as transfer window takes another bad twist

The Athletic report that West Ham have taken to the online marketplace called TransferRoom, where clubs can buy and sell players as well as advertise them.

Seven positions are said to be eyed by the club – a left-back, centre-back, defensive midfielder, central midfielder, winger, no.10 and striker.

West Ham’s situation has even been a cause of humour for pizza giants Dominos, who made a cheeky dig at their lack of spending.

Former Hammers defender and talkSPORT pundit Stuart Pearce isn’t worried just yet though considering the transfer market is still open.

“How they spend that money is the important thing,” he said on White and Jordan on Friday morning. “If West Ham just wanted to replace Declan, that’s easy. You just go with a lot of your budget you’ve got in from that Dec deal.

“What I think West Ham need, after their league form last year, is probably between three and five players to come in and supplement what we’ve got within the squad and improve the team. So you’re looking to spread that money if you possibly can and get good value.

“I would have thought they would have a healthy budget this summer. Declan has come from the academy and moved on for good money, but there might be finances available on top of that money to spend on players as well.

“Last season I think they spent circa £150million on players, so David Sullivan has gone out and furnished the manager with money, he’s brought in the likes of [Nayef] Aguerd and [Lucas] Paqueta and one or two others.

“Now, there’s no doubt about it, the club are in a position of reasonable strength. If you take the last three years, they’ve finished 6th in the Premier League, 7th, and then won the Europa Conference League trophy.

“So, it’s a really good time to strike now. The fact they’ve not brought anyone in so far wouldn’t panic me. It’s when the transfer window shuts, if we haven’t bought anyone in by then, that’s a different matter.”
