Nottingham Forest’s clash against Chelsea was a big one for Callum Hudson-Odoi.

It saw the Nottingham Forest winger come up against his former side, whom he left in the last summer transfer window.

Callum Hudson-Odoi may have felt he had a point to prove, and the 23-year-old did just that when he scored in the 74th minute to put his team in front.

He showed Chelsea what he can do when coming in from that left-hand side, but his goal was not enough to win Forest the game in the end.

Mauricio Pochettino‘s men fought back, with Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson netting late to make it 3-2 and give the visitors all three points.

What kind of reception did Chelsea supporters give to Callum Hudson-Odoi?

Hudson-Odoi came through the academy at Chelsea and did not really leave the club on bad terms.

However, Chelsea supporters did not show their former player much love at the City Ground.

According to Evening Standard journalist Nizaar Kinsella, fans were heard chanting “Chelsea reject” at Hudson-Odoi.

At the same time, the England international admitted that it felt nice scoring against his former club.

Callum Hudson-Odoi was right to leave Chelsea

From Hudson-Odoi’s perspective, departing Stamford Bridge last summer was the correct decision.

At Forest, he is getting minutes and performing. In total, the former Chelsea man has made 34 appearances this term.

His strike against the Blues was his eighth of the season. During the 2021/22 campaign, his last in Chelsea’s first team, he made 15 appearances in the Premier League, managing just the sole goal.

Ultimately, then, it is quite clear to see that things are working out for Hudson-Odoi at the City Ground and he made the right choice to leave Chelsea for Forest.

If Hudson-Odoi keeps performing like he has been, then perhaps Chelsea will start to have some regrets, especially after selling him for just £3m. It has proven to be a bargain for Forest.
