Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been speaking ahead of his side’s Premier League game against Chelsea tomorrow.

The Gunners welcome Chelsea to the Emirates and will be looking to increase their lead at the top of the table.

The fact that Arsenal are at the summit right now shows that it will be a difficult match for Mauricio Pochettino‘s men.

However, Chelsea will be desperate for a win after what happened over the weekend.

The Blues suffered more Wembley heartache after losing 1-0 to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals. Nicolas Jackson missed a whole host of chances on the day, but Pochettino has been quick to defend the striker.

Although their form has picked up in recent weeks, they are still ninth in the table.

Arteta, however, thinks they should be much higher based on their performances this season.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the Spaniard said: “They deserve to be a much higher position in the league when you look at what they have done in games.”

Where should Chelsea be in the Premier League table?

Arteta is not wrong. If this Chelsea side were a bit more clinical, they would probably be in the top six at this moment in time.

Pochettino’s men have wasted so many good opportunities in matches this season. Although it was an FA Cup game, Jackson’s misses against City on Saturday epitomised their finishing in the current campaign.

Of course, their defending in the Premier League has not been great of late, so they can improve in multiple departments.

Before their 6-0 win against Everton, they conceded a total of five goals in games with Sheffield United and Manchester United.

Chelsea have a lot of injuries, including at the back with captain Reece James still out, but with the quality that has been left over, they should be in a Europa League place at this very moment.
