Marc Guiu is a professional footballer who has become Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca’s third signing of the summer.

The Blues had already brought in defender Tosin Adarabioyo and playmaker Omari Kellyman and now Guiu is also part of Maresca’s new-look squad.

The former Barcelona man was offered a new contract at Camp Nou but the Blaugrana had no choice but to allow him to move to Stamford Bridge.

That is because Chelsea met Guiu’s £5 million release clause and were then able to convince him to swap Catalonia for London.

The majority of Blues supporters will not know much about their new signing, so the Chelsea Chronicle tells you everything you need to know about him below.

Marc Guiu age

Marc Guiu Paz was born in Granollers, Spain on January 4, 2006. Granollers is around 30 kilometres away from Barcelona – who he signed for in 2013.

Marc Guiu height

Guiu is six feet, two inches tall (1.87 metres), above average for a footballer. He is the same height as Chelsea players Nicolas Jackson, Carney Chukwuemeka and Deivid Washington.

Marc Guiu position

Guiu is a very different striker to what Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy typically produces. He is a powerful ‘number nine’ who likes to make runs in behind the opposition’s defence rather than come short and receive the ball to feet.

Career

Marc Guiu debut goal

The highlight of Guiu’s career to date is the match-winning goal he scored for Barcelona against Athletic Bilbao in October. Then-head coach Xavi introduced the youngster onto the pitch as his side needed a goal and he scored one after just 33 seconds.

Marc Guiu stats

Guiu made seven first-team appearances for Barcelona in the 2023-24 campaign, including two in the UEFA Champions League – in which he scored his second for the Catalan club against Royal Antwerp.

He also scored four times in 13 appearances for Barcelona B in the Primera Federacion – the third tier of Spanish football – last season.

Marc Guiu FIFA rating

Guiu was not in FIFA 23 but he is in this year’s game, EA Sports FC 24. Chelsea’s new signing is a striker with a current rating of 64 and a potential rating of 82, as of July 2024. His best attributes include strength (75), finishing (71) and ball control (70).

Guiu will probably receive an upgrade to his rating in next season’s game due to his increase in stature, perhaps seeing him up to around 67.

Marc Guiu transfer value

Guiu has a transfer value of £6.4m, according to Transfermarkt, and that will only increase as he develops further. Chelsea have often been criticised for overspending but this £5m deal could turn out to be an excellent move in years to come.
