Pundit Jermaine Jenas has stated that he was really disappointed with what he saw from one Chelsea player in the first half of their FA Cup semi-final vs Manchester City.

He claimed during commentary for BBC Sport that something Nicolas Jackson did signified his entire season up to now.

Chelsea were defeated 1-0 by Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final, conceding late to Bernardo Silva in a tightly-fought affair.

The Blues had a heap of chances to win the game, with the occasion at Wembley bringing flashbacks to their display against Liverpool in the EFL Cup final.

A lot of those good chances fell to Jackson, who can certainly not yet be described as clinical since joining Chelsea.

Nicolas Jackson wastes chances vs Manchester City

The Senegal international was outwitted by goalkeeper Stefan Ortega after running clean through on goal in the first half.

He was also denied twice by the City deputy in quick succession just after half-time.

However, it was the first chance that disappointed Jenas in particular, with him stating that it is a chance that simply has to be put away.

He said: “It was one v one at the back, Jackson just about stayed about in his half. That has been the story of Nicolas Jackson this season. One v one, you just have to stick that away.”

Missing big chances has unfortunately become a bit of a theme for Jackson in his first season at the club, and this has impacted them at times in the biggest moments.

In a game where Mauricio Pochettino set the side up perfectly against the treble winners, they were let down in front of goal yet again.
