In response, the company appointed Debra Crew as the interim CEO with immediate effect, a few weeks ahead of Menezes’ planned retirement at the end of June.
Expressing deep sorrow, Diageo Chairman Javier Ferrán stated, “Today is a truly sad day. Ivan was undoubtedly one of the most exceptional leaders of his time.”

He started working with Diageo in 1997 and held a number of Executive positions until being named CEO in 2013.
