Olympic hero Cathy Freeman’s former Melbourne home goes to auction with an eye-watering price tag of $4.1million
A two-storey Melbourne mansion that was once owned by Olympian Cathy Freeman will go under the hammer on March 11.
Located in Kew, 7.6km from the CBD, the five-bedroom, four-bathroom home has been listed with a price guide of between $3.8million and $4.1million.
Freeman, 50, offloaded the property in 2006 for $1.75million, and it later sold for $3.525million, reports the Herald Sun.
Situated by the Yarra River, the ultra-chic modern design offers an airy and light-filled living experience.
Highlights of the sprawling ten-room property include an expansive tree-lined pool terrace and a separate guest wing.

Freeman, who lit the flame at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and later won gold in the 400m, has kept a low profile since retiring in 2003.
She made a name for herself when she became the first Indigenous Australian to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games at age 16.
From there, she won two more gold medals at the Commonwealth games in 1994 and a silver medal at the 1996 Olympics.
She came first at the World Championships in 1997 in the 400m event and again in 1999.
Freeman then created the Cathy Freeman Foundation, an organisation that supports Indigenous students.

She was an ambassador for the Australian Indigenous Education Foundation until 2012.
In 2014, Freeman stepped down from her position as an ambassador for Cottage by the Sea, a children’s holiday camp in Victoria.
She was married to her first husband Alexander Bodecker from 1999 to in 2003.
She went on to date actor Joel Edgerton before they split in 2005, and married second husband James Murch in 2009.
They welcomed a daughter named Ruby in 2011.
