‘Devastated’ Linda Nolan, 64, shaves her head as she loses her hair for the fourth time in incurable cancer fight after tumours spread to her brain

Linda Nolan has revealed she’s shaved her head after losing her hair for the fourth time while battling incurable cancer.

The singer, 64, was told by doctors in March that she had two sizeable masses surrounded by smaller ones on her brain, nearly 20 years after she was first diagnosed with cancer.

Speaking in a new interview on Friday, Linda discussed how she had taken back control with the help of her hairdresser friend but is still ‘devastated.’

She told The Mirror: ‘My friend who is a hairdresser came round and just shaved it. Then I said “Get me a cap, we’re going out for a drink!”

‘I just feel, because I’ve been having steroid treatment as well and my face is swollen, I look like Mrs Potato Head.’

She added: ‘People say, ‘Well you know you look great’, but inside I’m screaming “I just don’t want to lose my hair again!” I was devastated at losing it.

Linda is due to start taking a new ‘wonder drug’ alongside ‘another chemotherapy drug’ for her brain tumours and is hoping it will give her ‘more time’.

Doctors have also told her ‘not to compare herself’ to her late husband Brian, who sadly died of the disease in 2007, as medicine has advanced greatly since.

Linda told woman magazine: ‘I’ve had radiotherapy and soon I’ll be starting a drug for brain tumours, which is being nailed as a wonder drug – alongside another chemo drug.

‘When I was on chemo in 2020 I stayed on it until I couldn’t handle it. So if it’s working, we’ll go with it. Anything that’ll give me time.

‘They keep telling me not compare myself to Bernie, because ten years have gone by and they didn’t have these drugs then.’

Previously Linda underwent a mastectomy and 18 rounds of chemotherapy after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005.

She has lost her husband Brian in 2007 and younger sister Bernie 2013 to cancer, while her eldest sister Anne overcame the illness.

Linda saw cancer return in her hip in 2017 and in her liver in 2020, and she is now waiting for the results of another MRI scan after undergoing 11 radiotherapy sessions and taking steroids to see if the tumours on her brain have shrunk.

Since finding out her cancer has spread, she is trying to keep a positive outlook and some of her famous friends have been helping.

She revealed that pal Elton John tracked down where she was staying through a mutual friend and sent her a lavish bouquet of flowers from him and his family.

She later received floral arrangements from Bobby Crush and Paul from the Chuckle Brothers.
