Married At First Sight’s Alyssa Barmonde storms off in tears during commitment ceremony after Duncan James admitted her expectations of him are ‘concerning’

Married At First Sight’s Alyssa Barmonde broke down in tears before storming out of Sunday night’s commitment ceremony.

The executive assistant, 35, became emotional after Duncan James admitted her expectations of him were ‘concerning’.

Alyssa explained she felt like Duncan wasn’t making her feel like she was a ‘priority’ during the retreat because he wouldn’t remain in contact with her throughout the day.

‘We are in a good place considering the retreat was a little hard for us,’ she said.

‘I didn’t feel like we were the couple we normally are because we didn’t spend much time together which doesn’t make me feel like I’m a priority… Every time I would try to bring up how I felt it was tit-for-tat.’

Relationship expert Alessandra Rampolla asked: ‘Do you feel Duncan is going to be second priority to your son?’

‘Of course not. I know her son will always be her first priority. It’s not a concern for me. I’m happy to manoeuvre my lifestyle around Alyssa’s lifestyle. I’ve been pretty open about that,’ Duncan responded.

He then explained why he believed Alyssa was upset a him during the retreat.

‘I don’t think Alyssa got upset about [me not contacting her]. It’s a deep seated issue around being vulnerable and a single mother. [Her expectations] are definitely a concern,’ he said.

‘I do need reassurance and I do need check-in’s in order for them to feel like they aren’t just going to run away, she explained.

Duncan responded: ‘I’m not having a go at you. I’m just explaining the things I’m feeling.’
