Deni Todorovič returned to social media on Friday sharing details about their highly publicised mental health battle in recent months.

The non-binary activist, 35, who uses all pronouns, shared a lengthy message to Instagram detailing their recovery process during a stint in rehab.

They explained they ‘sidelined deep and personal traumas and abuse’ which led to them losing brand deals and being served an Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) on behalf of an ex-partner.

‘I have battled complicated and painful moments that I regrettably too often let take control of my life. Namely dealing with aforementioned traumas,’ Deni said.

‘Thanks to the unrelenting support from health care professionals, particularly the whole team at the impeccable Shellharbour Hospital, NSW mental health [facility].’

Deni went on to thank their family and the Barwon Health Foundation in Geelong, Brunswick and Coburg before mentioning ‘first responders and even the police’.

‘Because whilst ACAB is true, we can’t brush all folks with one paint stroke,’ they added.

‘I have committed to what I know will be a lifelong battle to prioritise and recognise when I need to put myself first. Which is always but particularly now.’

They continued: ‘By following my life’s passions I became a public figure, and while that is a privilege and at times a curse, I entirely understand that with that comes responsibility and consequences for things I say and more importantly do.’

Deni continued their lengthy post by ‘vehemently’ apologising to ‘all of my darlings who were impacted by my actions and comments in recent weeks’.

They said their controversial actions in recent months were not a ‘holistic reflection of the goals I set out to achieve’.

‘I found no joy in letting down my community, brand partners and peers who helped champion my career and I look forward to privately and genuinely mending those relationships – if they so wish to do so,’ they added.

Despite penning the long apology to friends, family and former brand partners, Deni revealed they ‘stand by everything I said’.

They made clear they only felt regret for the ‘mean’ way they delivered their message, noting they had never been one to ‘sugar coat things’.

Deni finished up by saying: ‘And while we are here, remember we all stand on stolen land. I am grateful for the privilege I have and am aware of it.’

It comes after the influencer was swept up in a series of controversial events the last few months, with the latest being an AVO served to them by NSW police on behalf of their former partner Mitchell Latham.

The prominent fashionista also made a ‘political’ fashion statement which saw them flash their genitals to Newscorp journalists – Confidential’s Jonathan Moran and Page 13’s Alice Coster – at Australian Fashion Week, leaving them distressed.

Just one day after the flashing scandal, Deni’s fashion week plans were dashed when they were stopped by security at Nadia Bartel’s Henne show at St Barnabas in Ultimo.

According to fashion sources, AFW organisers were furious Deni’s antics made more headlines than the showcasing designers.

Before the event even started, Deni had a heated hour-long run-in with airport workers in Melbourne before flying to Sydney on a Jetstar flight.

Deni said they had been subjected to ‘homophobic and racist’ behaviour by staff requesting they pay $100 for excess luggage, and subsequently wrote with black marker pen, ‘Jetstar, suck my d**k,’ across the top of both thighs when they turned up at AFW.

A Jetstar representative denied staff did anything wrong.

Photographs of the incident showed Deni with their mother and four police officers, appearing upset as they rested their head on their mother’s arm. No charges were laid.

Deni first came to prominence when they received a starring role as ambassador for swimwear brand Seafolly – leading to a customer boycott in March.

But things quickly became unstuck for the influencer in the following weeks when the model began making wild accusations to close associates on social media and attacking brands Deni formally worked for.

Subsequent erratic behaviour and tirades saw the model ditched from various public roles by underwear label Bonds, youth charity Minus 18, and gin brand Tanqueray.

When friends, family and fans expressed concern for Deni’s mental health, they claimed to have been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and underwent treatment at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

‘I have a psychologist, a therapist, a psychiatrist, I’m going to the Banyans clinic, and there better not be any f***ing paparazzi when I get there,’ they said.
