A popular Channel 4 reality show has been renewed for a ninth series before the eighth has even aired – after promising ‘longest season yet.’
Filming has not yet wrapped for Married At First Sight UK‘s next season, but following the shows success, a decision has already been made for its future.
According to The Sun, producers have decided to ‘strike while the iron is hot’ as the ‘public appetite is off the scale.’
The huge dating show is believed to return later this year, with Channel 4 already issuing a casting call for the series after.
A source told the publication: ‘MAFS UK is a huge priority for the channel and is the biggest franchise on E4, as well as the top streaming hit for the network.’

They added: ‘It makes sense to order another series now and strike while the iron is hot as the public appetite for all the drama and chaos that comes from these ‘blind’ marriages is off the scale.’

It comes after, Metro revealed that the upcoming eighth season could be the ‘longest series yet,’ running for around eight weeks.
Promising an extra week of drama, MAFSUK will potentially run for as long as Love Island, which saw its eighth season broadcast a 57 episodes.
In 2021, Married At First Sight UK revamped its format to match the outrageous Australian series.
Aussie relationship expert Mel Schilling also stepped in to front the series following the blockbuster success of Australian MAFS in the UK.
The programme sees sixteen singletons matched up with their partners for life by love gurus Melanie Schilling, Charlene Douglas, and Paul C. Brunson, meeting for the first time at the alter.
Following their risky nuptials, they embark on a joint honeymoon where the drama reaches boiling point and screaming matches ensue.

Taking inspiration from the Australian format of the show, the couples are brought together for group dinner parties, which also seem to be full of drama
Rather than legal marriages, the couples will make a lifelong commitment to one another at a glamorous ceremony, overseen by a wedding celebrant, that includes guests, bridal gowns, dancing, speeches and cake.
After the ceremony and celebrations are over, true love is well and truly put to the test, as they embark on a luxurious honeymoon, before moving in with each other and their fellow couples.
Relationships will be put under the microscope, by fellow brides and grooms at weekly dinner parties – as well as by the experts, at recurring commitment ceremonies, where couples choose whether they want to stay in or leave the process.
