The team behind iconic children’s show Bluey reveal fate of beloved healer: ‘We have all agreed’

The team behind the hit ABC Kids show Bluey reassured fans on Sunday that the series will return for a fourth season.

Executive producer Daley Pearson said the beloved show is currently in top form so the creative team behind it wanted to continue producing high quality episodes.

‘We have all agreed we wouldn’t keep making it if wasn’t as good as the one that came before, so we want to make sure we keep doing that,’ Pearson told The Courier Mail.

‘There will definitely be more Bluey. The amount of families who have taken Bluey in is a privilege that we don’t, and have never, taken that lightly.’

He added that production on season four was yet to begin because the creative team wanted to make sure they are in the best position to produce amazing new episodes.

‘I’m very proud of it, it’s wild to have made something, or been part of something that’s so loved and is now part of the Zeitgeist of the world,’ he added.

Meanwhile, Bluey composer Joff Bush, 38, said the show’s instantly recognisable theme song was part of the reason the series became such a hit.

‘It’s a pretty weird song, which is a real testament to the producers for giving it the thumbs up,’ Bush said.

Earlier this month, it was reported Bluey smashed the TV ratings to become the top dog of Australian television.

The latest season of the beloved animated series about a charming family of Blue Heelers drew in a staggering 11 million viewers.

These figures combine the total audience who viewed the show across all platforms on the ABC and ABC iview since April.

The total audience figures comes from adding ratings from the five major capital cities, viewers in the regional centres, encore viewing and hours streamed on playback (VPM).

The show easily beat the next best total audience figure of 3.7million viewers, which was scored by Channel Seven’s 2021 coverage of the Tokyo Olympics Opening Ceremony.

Bluey, arguably Australia’s most popular children’s TV show, follows the adventures of ‘a loveable, inexhaustible six-year-old Blue Heeler dog’ along with her family, which includes her mum, dad and younger sister, and her friends.

The show has even captured the hearts and minds of schoolchildren across America and is changing the way they speak, with reports of American children speaking in an Aussie accent after watching the show.

‘We have all secretly agreed with each other we wouldn’t keep making it if wasn’t as good as the one that came before, so we want to make sure we keep doing that,’ Pearson told The Courier Mail
