The Voice winner Lachie Gill issues chilling warning to future contestants on the singing competition: ‘Don’t expect to become a star’

Lachie Gill revealed on Wednesday that becoming a successful performer is incredibly difficult – even if you’ve starred on a popular singing show.

The former Voice winner, 25, said because there are so many budding artists out there looking for their big break a singer really needs to stand out to get noticed.

‘People think if they’ve just won a TV show they are going to be a star. That is not how it works,’ he told The Daily Telegraph.

‘At the end of the day, there are so many artists out there and you have to be that little bit different to make people want to listen to you rather than someone else.’

The Melbourne native then said he had recently recorded an album’s worth of new songs and couldn’t wait to release them.

‘Got maybe 13 songs ready to go that we can put out so definitely want to get those out in a reasonable amount of time so people aren’t waiting months for a new song,’ he said.
