The Wire star Lance Reddick has died aged 60 – just days after failing to turn up to a premiere in New York.

Reddick – who played Cedric Daniels in the hit TV series – is understood to have died from natural causes, law enforcement officials told TMZ.

His body was reportedly discovered in his home in Studio City, California at 9.30am on Friday morning.

Just yesterday he uploaded a shot of himself curled up with his dogs at home to an Instagram post about National Puppy Day.

Reddick was in the middle of a promotional tour for his franchise John Wick and was scheduled to appear on The Kelly Clarkson show next week.

On Wednesday evening he was due to attend a premiere for Wick 4 alongside co-star Keanu Reaves but he failed to turn up. Reddick did not explain his absence at the event.

DailyMail.com has reached out to the actor’s representatives for comment.

On Wednesday, Reddick posted a selfie with his dogs where he appeared to be at home, but did not reveal why he was missing the New York premiere of the latest John Wick film.

Reddick will arguably be best remembered for his role as Lt. Cedric Daniels on the hit HBO show The Wire.

The actor enjoyed roles in blockbuster movies including Godzilla Vs. Kong and Angel Has Fallen.

The son of Dorothy Gee and Solomon Reddick, Lance was born in Baltimore, Maryland, where he attended the private Quaker school Friends School of Baltimore.

He went on to study music at the Peabody Preparatory Institute, before moving into acting.

In the early 90s, Reddick attended the Yale School of Drama, eventually receiving a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1994.

Despite landing high-profile roles in TV shows such as The Wire, Reddick managed to keep his private life out of the spotlight.

He leaves behind his wife of more than two decades, Stephanie Reddick, it is not clear if the couple had children.
