The Red Devils are planning a move for the Fiorentina midfielder if they can sell Fred this summer.

We told you earlier this month how Amrabat, who helped Morocco reach the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, was being monitored by United.

And last week talkSPORT revealed that Erik ten Hag’s side have stepped up their efforts to bring the 26-year-old to Old Trafford.

Amrabat is confident of the move, with reports in Italy claiming he has already ‘packed his bags’ ahead of the move.

But first, United need to raise funds in order to fund a move for last season’s Europa Conference League finalist.

United have spent heavily this window – spending an initial £55million on Mason Mount before forking out £47m on goalkeeper Andre Onana.

That is in addition to agreeing a fee with Atalanta for striker Rasmus Hojlund in a deal that could reach £72m including potential add-ons.

As a result, United need to trim their squad and sell a midfielder to make room for Amrabat, with Brazil international Fred deemed surplus to requirements.

United are actively encouraging talks with Turkish side Galatasaray for Fred.

Fulham also retain an interest in the 30-year-old, whom United value at £20m, but a move to Turkey is looking more likely.

Fred joined the Premier League side in 2018 from Shakhtar Donetsk for £52m, where he has featured in 213 games in all competitions.

As for Amrabat, he has racked up 107 appearances since arriving in Florence in 2020 – with 49 of his outings coming last season.

Should he make the move to United, he would be reunited with his ex-Utrecht boss Ten Hag.

It was under Ten Hag where he became a first-team regular, before he was sold to Eredivisie giants Feyenoord in 2017.
