Liverpool fans were delighted to see Virgil van Dijk net his first goal as new club skipper.
The 32-year-old was recently confirmed as the new Reds captain, replacing Jordan Henderson who left to join Al Ettifaq.

Cody Gakpo gave Liverpool the lead against Bayern Munich in the opening exchanges firing beyond Yann Sommer.
But it was Van Dijk, who made it 2-0, which got fans saying all the same thing.
His powerful glancing header is his first since being handed the armband and, after an underwhelming 2022/23 season, fans suggested he looked inspired in his new role.
One simply said: “Captain fantastic.”
Another wrote: “Van Dijk attacking corners with conviction? Boy that captain armband changes your game doesn’t it.”
A third stated: “Scoring in his first game after being named Liverpool captain, the Premier League is not ready!”
With a fourth commentating: “Captain Van Dijk is a whole new era of Virgil, unreal.”
Bayern made it 2-1 through Serge Gnabry, before Leroy Sane equalised before half-time.

Liverpool conclude their pre-season with a trip to Preston’s Deepdale as they take on German second-tier side Darmstadt.
They then face Chelsea in their Premier League opener on August 13 at Stamford Bridge.
