It doesn't matter where you're from and where you came from.' He added: 'Those who think they're gonna come to our country, break our laws, assault our cops ¿ that was not only an assault on an individual ¿ that was an assault on our system of public safety.'

He later appeared at a press conference with police. Adams said: ‘This isn’t about the migrants and asylum seekers, this is about those who break the law. It doesn’t matter where you’re from and where you came from.’ He added: ‘Those who think they’re gonna come to our country, break our laws, assault our cops – that was not only an assault on an individual – that was an assault on our system of public safety.’
