Pundit Simon Jordan has now rubbished a recent claim he has heard about Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino.

He told TalkSPORT that he does not believe the Argentine has not has had much influence on the club in the transfer market, and the sporting directors are pulling in a different direction.

There has been a theory that Pochettino does not have much of a say when it comes to transfers at the club since taking over.

This stems following the January transfer window. The boss had notably cried out for more signings, however only saw his squad get smaller with players being loaned out.

TalkSPORT host Sam Matterface said on air today that he had heard the manager is not having much influence on recruitment, saying:

Jordan not convinced by Pochettino claim

“Pochettino as far as I understand it didn’t have that much of an influence over the recruitment and it’s because of the fact they have the two sporting directors and a system of trying to acquire talent which is going to fulfil its potential down the line.”

Jordan quickly replied with: “What you mean like players like other clubs wanted to buy, like Caicedo and Lavia? Chelsea weren’t the only ones in for these players. I don’t believe you, or your source.”

Matterface then said: “He doesn’t even have the fact of veto that the club want to put a set piece into his coaching team, so it’s not beyond the realms of possibility.”

To which Jordan replied: “When I hear stories like that I wonder who is telling you that information and why that would be information that would be privy to a journalist and what the motivation for telling you in the first place is.”

Chelsea fans have not been convinced by Pochettino in recent weeks and months, and this reached it’s climax in the away end over the weekend.

Supporters were heard chanting for former boss Jose Mourinho as they saw their side stumble to a 2-2 draw with Brentford.

It remains to be seen if the owners give the Argentine time to turn things around, after it has become clear that not everyone on the board is in agreement as to what is the best course of action from here on out.
