Chelsea should stick with Mauricio Pochettino as their manager and go nowhere near Jose Mourinho.

That is according to Sky Sports pundit Stephen Warnock.

Mauricio Pochettino, 52, is still working as the Blues head coach. There’s increasing noise around the media about his future, though.

The Guardian recently claimed that Chelsea’s desire is to wait until the end of the season before reviewing Pochettino’s position as head coach.

However, there’s rumours in the media linking the Blues to the likes of Jose Mourinho, Ruben Amorim and Roberto De Zerbi. Incidentally, The Daily Mail claims that Mourinho is pretty unlikely to return to west London for a third stint as Chelsea manager.

Warnock says that Chelsea should keep faith in Pochettino as their manager rather than appoint someone like Mourinho.

When discussing Chelsea links with Mourinho, Warnock told Sky Sports: “For me, no, no. You have to move on from it. I think to go back for a third spell would be incredible for him from a nostalgic point of view, but I don’t think it’s the right fit.

“That period of history for Chelsea is gone, and you have to look forward. Would his style of management work on a squad like that? It might do. It might be something that galvanises the squad. But I still think you’ve to give Pochettino the opportunity.”

Similar to the plans above, we don’t mind the idea of Chelsea keeping Pochettino for now before reviewing at the end of the season.

It looks like the campaign is unfolding into another frustrating one, but they’re only four points behind in seventh.

If there’s a strong finish to the league, plus a deep run in the FA Cup tournament, perhaps he can win over a frustrated bunch of supporters. However, let’s wait and see what the owners make of the current situation.
